happy 4th

Just a quick reminder for those of you who enjoy watching pretty explosives to celebrate your "independence"
your cheap ephemeral thrills have long-term side effects.
but...who cares, the colors are so pretty?
assholes

So...you Patriotic fools...
when your staring blankly or woo-ing at the display...
bored of thinking about the charges of blackpowder (containing carcinogenic sulfur-coal compounds) that send skyrockets airborne and blast them into patterns of glowing sparks, you can look at each individual display and
remember which toxic metals produced that range of dazzling colors.....
Strontium produces blazing reds,
copper compounds burn blue,
magnesium, titanium and aluminum create brilliant white sparks. Sodium chloride produces orange-yellow fire,
boric acid burns green,
potassium and rubidium compounds produce purples and
burning lithium glows red.
Glittering greens are produced by radioactive barium.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY AMERIC A!

NONE OF THESE ARE UP TO DATE - B/C NO ONE REALLY THINKS ABOUT THIS ISSUE
Kaboom!

FIREWORKS

The chemicals and heavy metals used in fireworks also take their toll on the environment, sometimes contributing to water supply contamination and even acid rain. Their use also deposits physical litter on the ground and into water bodies for miles around.

unnecessary? Its symbolic of the wars and lives lost in order to have, well, independance and freedom. (ok so that I really don't care about) It doesn't happen all that often. Maybe fireworks on any other day is unnecessary pollution. You can't really justify any pollution, but I think for the mental well being of humans you need something like firworks to bring people together. Fireworks work on the human psyche in a deep and almost spiritual way. The color patterns and booms of explosives creates chaos that the human mind needs. Since the chaos is mostly controled and for the most part safe, it allows the person to purge an aggresive part of themself while being in wonder. A cheap ephemeral thrill? Hardly. To view fireworks in such a way shows detraction from what makes us human. The rediculously low levels of pollution are easily absorbed into nature's systems and filtered out. And the parts that don't are in such small amounts they pose no problem. And without the cause being repeated more than really once a year, there is not chance for build up that would over-load the surounding environment. The benifits gained from fireworks far out weight the negatives.
Well, i really dont know i'm making it up. sound kinda good though, huh? I have a megaphone if you need one. Its a loud mother-f'er too. Most of the ones you see on TV are the same. The white/off white bell and blue housing. But, If you go to the fireworks show you really aren't boycotting. You would have to stay outside of the area and not look at them. Even If you don't mean to see it. You know you can't just not like looking at them so then you can protest the fireworks, but not really boycott. You don't really even have to boycott them. You could be like, yeah, fireworks are cool, but did you know they release sulfuric acid into the air as well as leaving behind heavy metal fall out and even some radio active dust in some cases? and then be like, yeah, kinda crazy, huh? Then, while they're mulling over that tid-bit you through in, and now, because of that last one, there is even air-born lead. take a deap breath buddy. Then, here comes the tricky part. You now need to look at that person with all the disgust you can muster and really give who ever it is a good stair down. Only for a couple seconds before you make some throaty noise and turn your back on them.
    yeah.
